Overview

The island of Fårö is located north of the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea. For some tourist information, start here!

Travelling to Gotland by air:
The following airlines provide service to Visby:

Travelling to Gotland by sea:
For travel by sea, contact your travel agent soonest possible as August is peak time for the ferries between the Swedish mainland ports of Oskarshamn/ Nynäshamn and Visby. See www.destinationgotland.se.

Travelling to Gotland by train:
For train reservations see www.sj.se (note that there is no train service on Gotland).

Bus connections between Visby and Fårö:
- HF 10 bus shuttle from Visby ferry port and airport - as announced down below!
- Public bus - see separate page!
- Bus from HF 10 to Visby Airport on Thursday (evening flight) will be arranged for participants at the HFIA meeting in Stockholm on Friday.

Travel options from Visby to Fårö for those not using the HF 10 bus shuttle or public bus:
Rental cars may be picked up at the airport as well as at the ferry port. Drive road 148 to Fårösund, then take the free ferry to Fårö - see Timetable. Continue the road north 8 km and follow the signs. The Fårö Kursg å rd Camp is located close by the Fårö Church.

Departures when going by AIR with Skyways (the trip from Stockholm Arlanda/Bromma to VBY Visby takes about 45 minutes).

Departures when going by AIR with Gotlandsflyg (the trip from Stockholm BMA Bromma to VBY Visby takes about 35 minutes).
Airline company Gotlandsflyg may offer low price flights between Stockholm/Bromma - Visby and Visby - Skavsta in Saab 340 planes. Timetable for August not yet posted, please check their Timetable.

From Nynäshamn to Visby (about 3 hours): 04:50, 07:30, 10:55, 12:50 17:35, 23:30. Check timetable

From Grankullavik, north tip of Öland, to Visby (about 2 hours): 17:25. Check timetable

Bus with signs "HF 10" will leave 16.30 from Visby harbour terminal via Visby airport at around 16.45 for scheduled airline arrivals up to 17:15. A second bus will leave from the harbour terminal at 18.30 via Visby airport at 18.45 for scheduled airline arrivals up to 19:00.

Bus from HF 10 to Visby Airport on Thursday will be arranged for participants at the HFIA meeting in Stockholm on Friday. This bus is included in the conference fee and you will be able to catch AIR departures listed below. For catching the FERRY you must leave the HF 10 camp earlier (use own transport).

The first bus for Visby will leave the camp at 06.00 for Visby airport (for 07.50 flight departure to Stockholm) and Visby harbour. Other transport will be organised as needed.
