Overview

The island of Fårö is located north of the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea. For some tourist information, start here!

Travelling to Gotland by air:

Travelling to Gotland by sea:
For travel by sea, contact your travel agent soonest possible as August is peak time for the ferries between the Swedish mainland ports of Oskarshamn/ Nynäshamn and Visby. See www.destinationgotland.se/en/.

Travelling to Gotland by train:
For train reservations, see www.sj.se (Swedish mainland only. There is no train service on Gotland).

Bus connections between Visby and Fårö (please check back here closer to the conference week):
- HF 13 bus shuttle from Visby ferry port and airport on Sunday - as announced down below!
- Public bus - see separate page
- HF 13 bus shuttle to Visby Airport on Wednesday (evening flight) may be arranged for participants to the BLOS/HFIA meetings in Stockholm on Thursday/Friday.

Travel options from Visby to Fårö for those not using the HF 13 bus shuttle or public bus:
Rental cars may be picked up at the airport as well as at the ferry port. Drive road 148 to Fårösund, then take the free ferry to Fårö - see Timetable. Continue the road north 8 km and follow the signs. The Fårö Kursg å rd Camp is located close by the Fårö Church (centered on map, zoom in).

Departures when going by AIR with Gotlandsflyg (the flight from Stockholm to Visby takes about 35 minutes).

From BMA Bromma to VBY Visby: 14:10, 15:40, 16:25, 17:15, 20:00.
From ARN Arlanda to VBY Visby: 15:10.

From Nynäshamn to Visby (about 3 hours): 04:50, 07:30, 10:55, 12:50 18:35, 23:30. Check timetable
From Oskarshamn to Visby (about 3 hours): 10:50, 15:10, 21:10. Check timetable

A Bus shuttle to HF 13 will leave at 16:30 from Visby harbour terminal via Visby airport (VBY), ETD from VBY at 17:15.
A second bus will leave Visby harbour at 18:30 via VBY airport at 19:15 (this one will match the flight from Oslo).

[Updated 04-Aug-2013] The bus shuttle for Visby will be earlier that previously announced. It will leave the Fårö camp at 13:45 arriving Visby airport around 15:00 and Visby harbour around 15:30. You will be able to catch some of the AIR and FERRY departures listed below. Else, you may have to leave the HF 13 camp earlier (use other transport).
